Thanks to two sisters and a friend of theirs, The Boys & Girls Club of America started in 1860 in Hartford Connecticut. Interestingly, that original building - The Good Will Club - is still used as a club today.
The Boys & Girls Club of the Highland Lakes became a charter member of Boys & Girls Club of America in 1999. It started in a warehouse near the intersection of Broadway and Avenue N in Marble Falls.
Nearly three years later in 2002 it moved to their new 21,000 square foot facility, The Serriff Center, on Broadway at Avenue Q.
In 2003 the citizens of Burnet wished to open a club. After working with the Highland Lakes Club’s Board of Directors, in 2004 The Burnet Club opened as a registered site of the Boys & Girls Club of the Highland Lakes. They operate on Northington St. in the Bill Johnson Building.
The First Baptist Church of Kingsland saw a need for out of school care for kids in their community. After only nine months the Kingsland Club opened in 2017. Originally housed at The First Baptist Church of Kingsland, today it is located at Packsaddle Elementary School.
In 2019 a group of Llano residents wanted the same for their community. A Club was opened at the Elementary School. The Club now operates in The Old Gym behind the Administration Building.
